Top of Page Veterans’ benefit programs are important to millions of Americans.
Approximately one-third of the U.S. population, or twenty-six million veterans
and forty-eight million family members are potentially eligible for federal
veterans’ benefits.
The Veterans Service Officers play an important role in a national veterans’
advocacy network. They work in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Veterans
Affairs (USDVA) staff to secure clients’ benefits. The County Veterans Service
Officers are often the initial contact for veterans in the community. Therefore,
it is important that their first contact be a favorable one.
