DOG LICENSES

Annual License Fees

December 1 through February 28: $7 for altered (spayed or neutered); $20 for unaltered.  For above dates, licenses are available at the County Treasurer's Office, Animal Control Department, local city or township offices and at many veterinarian offices.

March 1 through November 30:  $40 for delinquent license issue.  All licenses must be purchased at Animal Control after March 1.

All dog licenses are sold on an annual basis. Each year, ALL LICENSES EXPIRE ON DECEMBER 31.

As provided by state law, all dogs must be licensed when they reach the age of four (4) months. When the age of four months is reached, the owner then has 30 days to provide proof of age and current rabies shot for their dog in order to purchase a license at the regular $7 or $20 fee.  Failure to purchase the license--at that time--would result in the $40 delinquent license fee.

License tags may be purchased (December 1 - February 28) by mail or in person, as follows:

By Mail: Send completed copy of Dog License Application (click on aforesaid for the form & more instructions), ALONG WITH A CHECK PAYABLE TO Genesee County Treasurer, a current rabies certificate and proof of spaying/neutering, if applicable.  The address is: Genesee County Treasurer, 1101 Beach Street, Suite 144, Flint, MI 48502.  (The application form above is a "work in progress" and will be updated.  It is viewed by using Acrobat Reader.)
