FLINT, Michigan -- Murder charges have been filed against two Flint men accused of shooting and killing a store clerk Thursday shooting at Dayton Market.
Cedrick Montay Beck and Eric Rayshon Hopson, both 20, have been charged with felony murder, two counts of armed robbery and felony firearm. Hopson is charged with possession of a firearm.
Police said Peter Farah was working behind bulletproof glass at the counter of the Dayton Market at Dayton and Dupont streets about 2 p.m. Thursday when Beck and Hopson kicked in the door that led behind the counter.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said Beck pulled a shotgun from his pants and immediately shot Farah in the leg. The robbers grabbed an unspecified amount of cash and fled.
Farah, 23, later died from the gunshot wound. He had been working at the store, owned by his father, for just a few months.
"My office will work very hard to see that the two men responsible for this senseless tragedy are prosecuted swiftly and to the fullest extent of the law," Leyton said.
Farah's murder marks the second store clerk killing since September, when Monir Alyatim, was fatally shot while working behind a party store counter just up Dupont Street during a robbery at Saba's Mini Mart.
Beck and Hopson were arraigned on the charges Saturday afternoon.
A pretrial hearing is set for next week.
