(FLINT)  Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton has charged four men in the September 21st armed robbery and slaying of a party store clerk on Flint’s north side.

Monir George-Yacoub Alyatim was working behind bullet proof glass at the counter of Saba’s Mini Mart on West Stewart Avenue in the City of Flint on Sunday evening, September 21, 2008 when two individuals armed with guns entered the store.

According to the police investigation and video from the store’s surveillance cameras, one of the men, Geoffrey Lavar Lawson, 19, of Flint, was armed with a handgun and jumped on the store’s counter and reached over the bullet proof glass to grab money.  He then shot Alyatim two times in the head.  Alyatim died from the gunshot wounds.

Lawson is charged with 5 counts including felony murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon, and felony firearm.

Williams is charged with felony murder, armed robbery, and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Two other Flint men have also been charged in relation to their roles in the robbery.

Deondra Williams brother, Tevin Keith Williams, 17, is charged with armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
