The Office
The Office of
Equity & Diversity was established by the Board of Commissioners, January 1,
1975, to enforce Equal Employment and Opportunity laws in Genesee County Government, and to
enforce non-discrimination clauses in county contracts. As a part of its
contract compliance function, the Office handles the issuance of Annual
Certificates To Do Business With Genesee County to vendors who provide products
or services to Genesee County Government. The Office is also charged with
conducting investigations involving complaints of alleged discrimination and
sexual harassment by
County employees and applicants, and attempts to conciliate differences between
affected parties. In addition, the Office coordinates County compliance
with provisions of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). The
Director of the Office of Equity & Diversity is directly responsible to the County Board of
Commissioners.

To implement Genesee County Board of
Commissioner's commitment to the
principles of equal employment, procurement and service opportunities, to
monitor compliance by all levels of County government to ensure continuous
adherence to commitment; to provide programs and services in compliance with
federal, state and local laws that prohibit discrimination; and to achieve a
diverse workforce and array of businesses based on availability.
