MISSION STATEMENT

To provide a framework and encourage development that enhances the quality of life in Genesee County through government and community partnerships.  

The Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission (GCMPC) originated in 1963. The Planning Commission Board consists of eleven members appointed to three-year terms by the Chairman of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners. The Commission generally meets on the first Tuesday of every month at 8:00 a.m. in the GCMPC office.

The Commission employs a staff of 23 people.  The GCMPC provides staff resources, technical support, and services to assist Genesee County municipalities with the needs and demands of a rapidly urbanizing county.  The four divisions of the GCMPC are  Community Development, Senior Services, Solid Waste and Transportation.  All divisions of the GCMPC perform under the administrative direction of the  Director-Coordinator, Julie Hinterman.  

General Services Provided by the GCMPC

Land Use Planning & Government Services
Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission is a review and advisory agency for master plan and zoning reviews, and also for Federal Project Reviews. 

Solid Waste
Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission provides staff for the designated planning committee responsible for the update and implementation of the county’s solid waste management plan.
