Genesee County Hazard Mitigation Plan

The Genesee-Lapeer-Shiawassee Region V Planning and Development Commission (GLS Region V), in collaboration with the Genesee County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Office, developed a hazard mitigation plan for Genesee County. This plan identifies natural and technological hazards in Genesee County. Each county must have an approved hazard mitigation plan in order to be eligible for federal hazard mitigation funding.

GLS Region V Staff developed this website to keep the public informed about the plan and to provide access to meeting materials as well as information on Genesee County hazards. The site will be updated regularly.

Nov. 2004 -Sept. 2006	Worked with Michigan State Police to Complete Development of Plan
December 2006	Conditional Approval of Plan Received from FEMA
March 13, 2007	Genesee County Board of Commissioners Adopts the Genesee County Hazard Mitigation Plan
March 2007-Sept. 2007	Worked with all 33 local units of government to obtain their Resolutions of Adoption for the Plan
November 5, 2007	The Genesee County Hazard Mitigation Plan received final approval from FEMA.
