COMMISSIONER ARCHIE BAILEY 

DISTRICT 7

County Commissioner Archie H. Bailey was elected to his first term on the Genesee County Board of Commissioners in 2002.  He represents the citizens of the 7^th County Commissioner District.  Commissioner Bailey currently serves as Vice Chairperson of the Human Services Committee. He has previously served as Chairperson of the Board of Commissioners in 2007 and on a variety of Boards and  Commissions. In 2003, Commissioner Bailey chaired a Board sub-committee that created a prescription drug discount program for county residents without drug insurance coverage. He has also worked to promote the Genesee Health Plan. 

 Prior to his election to the Board of Commissioners, Commissioner Bailey served as a school board member and later as a Mott Community College trustee.  Commissioner Bailey was appointed by former Governor James J. Blanchard to positions on the Ferris State University Board of Trustees, where he served as Chairperson, and to the Michigan Higher Education Assistance Authority.  Commissioner Bailey served the City of Flushing as a councilman and he was Flushing's first popularly elected mayor.  He served as mayor for three terms.

Commissioner Bailey is a retired public school educator.  He has undergraduate and graduate degrees from Wayne State University and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.  Commissioner Bailey has two daughters and four grandchildren.  He can be contacted via email at archiebailey@comcast.net.
